Gen Z dislikes minimalism because it is-by definition-simple. They also take issue with minimalism-not necessarily because of the way it looks, but rather, the reasons why it’s so popular with Millennials. Some people even said lasagna was cheugy! But, cheuginess isn’t the only Millennial aesthetic that Gen Z dislikes.
It wasn’t so long ago that the term “cheugy” (roughly defined by the New York Times as a word to describe someone who is “ out-of-date or trying too hard”) was applied to everything Millennials liked that Gen Z deemed uncool. Gen Z loves to poke fun at Millennial trends.

They know what they like, but accept that the next day, they might like something else. As the first generation that grew up totally on the internet, they’re perhaps more connected and informed than any generation before. To be sure, keeping up with Gen Z can be exhausting.
